Fripp Island Fishing Tournaments
In May, we host the Memorial Day Fishing Tourney. The 2019 tournament is May 23-25. Enjoy our Captain’s dinner, and hit the water at sunrise. At 6 p.m., all fish are weighed in, and prizes are awarded for the largest Wahoo, Dolphin, King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel. In August, we celebrate the annual Labor Day Kingfish Tourney (August 29-31, 2019). Catch the largest kingfish or Spanish mackerel, you win!
October brings the Owen Perry Inshore Tournament. Proceeds from this tournament benefit Camp Rainbow, which is a day camp for MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center hemotology and oncology patients. At Camp Rainbow, children with cancer and their siblings spend relaxing, fun-filled days with children in similar situations. Together, they learn from each other, offer mutual support and share their complex emotions. Camp also provides opportunities for children to build confidence, learn independence and improve self-esteem. October 17-19, 2019.
Fishermen ages 6 to 14 have their own event, the Kids’ Fishing Tourney, in November. Held the day after Thanksgiving, fishermen angle for trout, bass, flounder, spot and croaker. Participants can fish from the marina docks, a boat, in the surf, your private fishing hole or from the Maxwell Memorial Bridge. There’s no entry fee, but fishermen must supply their own rod, reel and tackle. Prizes are given for the largest fish in each category.
Benefiting Pledge the Pink
May 23-25, 2019
Get out on the water and help support Pledge the Pink. Fripp is hosting the 2019 PTP event and we couldn’t be more excited.
In 2011, Pledge the Pink (originally LoCo Motion), was a small, local, charity race—aimed at fighting cancer in South Carolina, and getting the lowcountry in shape. Now, it’s an ambitious, not-so-small, breast cancer event—one that’s pushed 10,000 people off the couch, and given over a half-million dollars to breast cancer charities across the country. Through our sister charity Pledge the Pink Foundation (formally known as Carolina Cups), these dollars provide gap funding for heroic, budget-restricted, nonprofit service providers. We are able to slice through red tape, and support game-changing beneficiaries across the country.
